Dear Colleagues,

International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems announces a special
issue on Robotics and Sensing for Humanitarian Demining, edited by Prof.
Maki K. Habib, Saga University, Japan.

Scope and Topics
The special issue aims to review and discuss the available humanitarian
mine clearance technologies along with their limitations and discusses the
development efforts to automate tasks related to demining process wherever
possible through robotization and applying effective sensing and detection
technologies. The special issue is looking for papers that introduces a
solution and priorities with the requirements in terms of technical
features and design capabilities of a mobile platform that accelerate the
demining process, preserve the life of the mine clearing personnel and
enhance safety, and to achieve cost effective measures. Particular
emphasis will be given to the applications regarding the detection of
landmine and removal using advanced robotic systems including peripheral
devices. Research groups in this area are highly encouraged to submit
there major research activities in the area of robotics and sensing for
humanitarian demining.
