*Robots[at]Play Grants*
*Festival, Odense, Denmark, 14-16 September 2006*

This call provides grants for events and travel to the Robots at Play
festival to be held in Odense, Denmark, on 14-16 September 2006. Robots
at Play is an annual, international Odense-based festival - the first of
which will be held in September 2006 in Odense, Denmark, the city of
fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen. The festival will give
general public access to robotics through a number of popular robot
events that engage the citizens, and will encourage research and
development in the field of robotics through innovation camps. This
year's theme is "Robots and play - at home and in urban spaces", and the
festival will bring together researchers, developers, manufacturers,
buyers, artists, designers, politicians, etc. and will become a source
of inspiration for manufacturers and buyers in the field of robots and
playware. The camp and festival is being organized together with the
Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Innovation
Council, the City of Odense, and will have participation of the Danish
Minister of Research. A series of events will take place in the city;
events that directly or indirectly visualize robotics for play and
games, learning and sports activities, arts and films, health issues
etc. The activities will be thought-provoking, funny, interactive,
eventful and startling. The organisers wish to involve, not only the
inhabitants of Odense, but also international visitors in the festival,
thus turning it into a joint activity promoting a wider interest in
robotics.

Events include robot sports with interactive robotic equipment in the
city for different sports disciplines, robot music with famous
international musicians such as Funkstar Deluxe and a robot music
release party, robot competitions with the novel LEGO Mindstorms NXT,
huge robots being made trash at a central public square, team robot
exhibitions, service robots display, and so forth.

private persons, etc.) who would like to exhibit robotic systems related
to the 2006 theme at the Robots at Play festival in Odense, Denmark. The
call provides a large number of grants (e.g. travel and transportation
grants) for bringing such robotic systems at display during the
festival. Applicants must send a 1-page summary for the proposed robotic
event, including description, www information, previous public shows,
