===============================================================================

Dear Researchers and Scholars,

The First CISM-IFToMM Symposium on Theory and Practice of Robots and
Manipulators was held on Sept. 5-8, 1973 in Udine (Italy); not long after
IFToMM had been founded in 1969. The first ROMANSY, or Ro.Man.Sy. as the
Symposium used to be referred to, marks the beginning of a long-lasting
partnership between two international institutions: the Centre International
des Sciences Mecaniques (CISM) and the International Federation for the
Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM).

The ROMANSY2008 will preserve this tradition, by encouraging papers that are
of a broad interest and a close interaction of the participants during the
presentations. In particular, the conference solicits papers providing a
vision of the evolution of the robotics disciplines and signaling new
directions in which these disciplines are foreseen to develop.

Paper topics include, but are not limited to:

- Novel robot design and robot modules/components
- Service, education, medical, welfare and rescue robots
- Humanoid robots, bio-robotics, multi-robot and embodied multi-agent systems
- Challenges in control, modeling, kinematical and dynamical analysis of
  robotic systems
- Sensor systems for robots, perception
- Space robots
- Recent advances in robotics

IMPORTANT DATES
================

- Full paper submission deadline: November 1st, 2007
- Decision of acceptance: December 1st, 2008
- Camera-ready version of accepted papers: February 15th, 2008
- For YD grants, applications can be entertained prior to a final decision on
  acceptance of papers; a conditional decision will be made.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINE
=====================

- The language of the Symposium is English. Authors are asked submit their
  papers either in American or British English, but not in a mixture of both.
- Papers must be prepared in single column. 6 pages are allowed for each
  (figures, tables, and illustrations are included).
- Both submission paper and camera-ready paper should be sumitted in PDF
  format. Authors are required to include their email addresses in the paper.
- To promote young scientist participation with accepted papers the YOUNG
  DELEGATES IFToMM PROGRAM (YD) is offered. For details please check
  http://www.iftomm.org (under menu Conferences).
