Notice - IEEE/RSJ IROS 2007 and Fires in the San Diego Area

Here is the latest news on the fires in the San Diego area from the Local
Arrangements Chair:

(1) Today (Tuesday, October 23, 2007) there is a large number of people
displaced in the San Diego area, approximately 1 million.

(2) The weather prediction is that the high winds affecting the fires will
be reduced by Wednesday, October 24, 2007.

(3) The Sheraton Hotel is advising the conference organizers that they
expect the conference to proceed as planned.  For up to the minute
information use the Sheraton URL:

(4)  Today (Tuesday, October 23, 2007) the Sheraton Hotel advised that
individuals with respiratory problems should wear a mask.  However, it is
expected that by the weekend (Saturday, October 27) that the effects of
smoke, and smoke inhalation, from the fires will no longer be an issue.

(5) As of today (Tuesday, October 23, 2007), the San Diego International
Airport is operating normally.  For up to the minute airport information
use the airport URL:

Given the best information we have available to us, IEEE/RSJ IROS 2007
will proceed as intended.

The IEEE/RSJ IROS 2007 committee chairs look forward to welcoming the
