11th International Conference on Climbing and Walking Robots and the 
Support Technologies for Mobile Machines, Coimbra, Portugal, 08 – 10 
September 2008

Dear colleague,
We are pleased to inform you that due to numerous requests the 
Organising Committee of CLAWAR 2008 has decided to extend the deadline 
for submission of extended abstracts/draft papers by two weeks to 30 
PRIL 2008. All other key dates remain unchanged.

We would appreciate it very much if you could forward this message with 
associated attachment to interested colleagues and groups.

The conference will feature technical and social programmes. The 
technical programme will comprise regular and special oral and poster 
sessions, workshop on humanoid robotics, robotic competition, and 
exhibition. Articles submitted for inclusion in the conference will be 
peer reviewed before acceptance. The conference proceedings will be 
produced in hard copy as well as on CD. The hard copy proceedings will 
be published by World Scientific Publishing Company. Accepted articles 
will only be published in the conference proceedings if at least one of 
the authors registers for the conference and presents the paper at the

Submission of Extended Abstracts/draft papers: Extended to 30 APRIL 2008
Paper Acceptance: 15 May 2008
Submission of Final Papers: 15 June 2008
Early Bird Registration: 15 June 2008
Author registration: 30 June 2008 (paper will be withdrawn if author not 
Preliminary Program: 01 July 2008
Conference: 08 – 10 September 2008

Submission of Papers:
The technical programme of the conference will feature Regular Papers, 
Special Session Papers and a Workshop on Humanoid Robotics. Please 
submit extended abstracts of your papers or draft papers in PDF format 
through the conference web-site or directly using the URL 
(https://www.softconf.com/starts/CLAWAR2008/submit.html) by the 
indicated deadline for consideration for inclusion in the relevant 
category. Extended abstracts are limited to 4 A4 pages in single-line 
space and should include problem formulation, motivation to the work, 
methodology, sample results and discussion and references, within the 
scope of the conference as detailed in the conference web-site. Final 
accepted papers will be limited to 8 pages in length.

All papers will be peer reviewed, and all the accepted papers will be 
published in the conference proceedings. Selected papers will also be 
considered for publication in special issues of reputable international 

Organisations and research groups wishing to exhibit their robots and 
robotics research work at the conference are asked to contact the 
conference secretariat to discuss the necessary arrangements.

Mobile Robot Competition:
It is envisaged to organise a robotics competition as in the previous 
issues of the conference. Full details will be posted on the conference 
web-site. Competition teams wishing to take part in the competition are 
encouraged to contact the conference secretariat for further information.

Organisations wishing to sponsor the conference in any way and gain the 
corresponding benefits by promoting themselves and their products to the 
robotics community through conference publications, conference web-site 
and conference publicity are encouraged to contact the conference 
secretariat to discuss the terms of sponsorship and the necessary
