We're happy to announce

World Robotic Sailing Championship 2011
4th International Robotic Sailing Conference
Luebeck, Germany, August 16-20, 2011

The World Robotic Sailing Championship (WRSC) is
promoting the development of autonomous sailboats.
While wind, waves and currents provide a demanding
natural environment for autonomous control, the
presence of competing boats is adding to the
challenge -- and the fun.

Following events in Austria, Portugal and Canada
the WRSC 2011 will be held in Luebeck, Germany. As
a beautiful old hanseatic city at the Baltic shores,
Luebeck has a long maritime tradition.

Clearly, sailing can be quite expensive. For WRSC
2011 we would particularly like to encourage more
student teams to participate. With the introduction
of a small model sailboat one-design class it will
be much simpler getting started with a boat and it
will be possible to practice even on a small pond.

The 4th International Robotic Sailing Conference
(IRSC) will be held during the WRSC and provides an
ideal venue to discuss topics ranging from boat
design to collision avoidance and applications for
autonomous boats. We encourage researchers interested
in these fields to submit their work to the
conference, even if they will not participate in
the WRSC!
