Dynamic Walking 2011 will be held at the Friedrich-Schiller University
in Jena, Germany from July 18 to 21. The aim of this meeting, the sixth
of an annual series, is to provide insight into the fundamental
principles that underlie legged locomotion. Topics central to dynamic
walking include energetics, stability and control, predictive principles
and models, dynamic modeling, and optimization in biology and robots.
Participation of researchers studying human or animal walking and those
designing legged robots is equally appreciated. To promote open sharing
of information, the format of the meeting is highly informal with
single-track presentations and extensive time scheduled for interaction,
brainstorming and idea sharing. This year, participation will be based
on both invitations and submissions (deadline February 28, 2011) for
oral and poster presentations. To submit a proposal (see website), key
questions and topics for both presentation and discussion need to be
specified. The focus is to combine introductory talks with an extended
discussion, both claiming approximately the same amount of time
(15min+15min). Students can apply for a travel grant.
