The Technical Committee on Micro- and Nanosystems (MNS), an integral part of
the ASME Design Engineering Division, is organizing a symposium on Micro and
Nano Mechanisms and Robotics. This symposium will provide a forum for the
dissemination of both experimental and theoretical contributions in this
multi-disciplinary field.  Micro and Nano Mechanisms and Robotics is an
emerging area with a tremendous potential to revolutionize manufacturing of
nanostructures, nanosensors, and nanoactuators, and to enable new
applications in medicine.   Submissions from researchers both within and
outside of the traditional mechanical engineering are strongly
encouraged.  Topics
of interest include, but are not limited to:

1.      Micro and nano assembly and manipulation of components aimed at
constructing micro/nano mechanisms, robots and devices.

2.      The design, characterization, fabrication and use of micro and nano
robots and mechanisms in emerging applications.

3.      Algorithms and deployment schemes for large numbers of micro and
nano robots that are scalable and efficient in utilizing limited energy,
sensing, computational and communication resources available.
