Call for Papers: RSS 2010 Workshop on Learning for Human-Robot Interaction

RSS 2010, University of Zaragoza, Zaragoza, Spain
Date: Sunday, June, 27th, 2010
Time: 9am-5:30pm

In recent years, there has been a growing attention towards the development
of interactive systems that can naturally communicate and interact with
humans. However, despite the progress made, interactive systems are still
directed to experts and consequently naive users or disabled may not exploit
the potential of these robots. In order to improve these systems, new
approaches from both multi-modal signal processing and machine learning
methods should be investigated. Indeed, interaction require efficient
perception of communicative signals, activities and other environmental
information produced by the users in order to provide the most relevant
feedback or service. However, the associated algorithms require huge volumes
of labeled data which is incompatible with diversity of potential users and
also time-consuming. In this context, this full-day workshop would like to
bring together researchers from human-robot interaction and machine learning
fields in order to discuss which methodologies and problems may take
advantage of new advanced techniques, all this with the main objective of
creating solutions to build robotic systems with high cognitive

Posters are an excellent way to present research and new ideas. We invite
you to submit a 2-page poster abstract (including figures and references as
needed) to be presented as a poster at the workshop. Your abstracts will go
through a full peer-review process. The final number of posters we can
accept is limited; acceptence will depend on relevance to the workshop
topics and quality of presented work. The accepted posters will be included
in the workshop proceedings and the authors will have the opportunity to
present their work during the poster session. We encourage student
participation in the workshop.

Important Dates:
. Poster abstract submission deadline: May 10th, 2010
. Notification of poster acceptance: May 20th, 2010
. Conference and Workshop Registration: June 1st, 2010
. Workshop: June 27th, 2010

Please send your poster abstracts by email to
rss2010_hri-request(at)isir.upmc.fr; use "RSS Workshop 2010 Abstract
Submission" in the subject.
