Announcing the 2010 North American Summer School in Surgical
Simulation and Robotics

23-27 August, 2010 University of Washington, Seattle Washington
    http://brl.ee.washington.edu/SummerSchool2010/

Robotics and simulation are two technologies having a major impact on
the delivery and teaching of health care worldwide. This special
one-week summer school will provide an intensive introduction to
surgical robotics and simulation technologies and their clinical
context.

The school is designed for graduate students in engineering and
scientific fields as well as clinicians and researchers who are
starting careers as innovators in the medical domain. A limited
number of seats will be available for students from outside North
America.

A distinguished faculty of 22 international experts will present
in-depth lectures. Hands on activities will be provided in the
University of Washington ISIS simulation center and the surgery lab.
Accepted students will present a poster describing their research
projects or interests. Social events will allow networking
opportunities with faculty and fellow students as well as introduce
the beauty and cuisine of the Pacific Northwest in the height of the
summer season.

We have received partial support for the school from National Science
Foundation, Children's Hospital of Seattle, and Intuitive Surgical.
The remaining cost of $500 per student will cover tuition, lodging (in
University of Washington dormitories) and meals. Additional full or
partial fee-waiver scholarships may be available, pending further
funding approval. In any case students will be responsible for
transportation to and from Seattle.

Applications from prospective students are due by 15-June-2010. To
apply please go to http://brl.ee.washington.edu/SummerSchool2010/, and
