PHD PROGRAM in BIOROBOTICS

CALL FOR APPLICATION

The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa (www.sssup.it) launched a call 
for application to a Ph.D. program
in the field of BIOROBOTICS (including micro-engineering, biomedical 
engineering, biomimetic robotics,
re-habilitation technologies and computer assisted surgery), in the 
framework of the Innovative Technologies
of Information & Communication Engineering and Robotics International 
School of Doctorate.
The call is open to all interested doctoral candidates from all 
countries (Europe and beyond).

The application process is highly competitive and the selected fellows 
will conduct research in a
leading international institution where research is addressed with an 
interdisciplinary approach.
Applicants are required to submit a research project in BIOROBOTICS 
which will be evaluated for
scientific and technical soundness as part of the whole selection procedure.

10 fellowships to EU candidates and 3 fellowships to non-EU candidates 
for a total of 13 PhD positions on a
three year basis will be funded by both Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and 
the Italian Institute of Technology, specifically:
· 7 positions (6 EU and 1 non-EU) are for candidates with research 
projects in the field of BIOROBOTICS
· 6 positions (4 EU and 2 non-EU) are for candidates with research 
projects in the specific field of MICRO-BIOROBOTICS.
These scholarships are supported by the Italian Institute of Technology 
(IIT - www.iit.it) for research to be carried out at the
Center in Micro-BioRobotics IIT at SSSA (http://mbr.iit.it/).
The selected PhD students will be responsible of carrying out an 
individual research project and are also offered
advanced courses. The PhD students will use excellent facilities, 
equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and
robotic platforms; they will carry on their individual research projects 
under the active tutorship of well-known
leaders in Biorobotics; they will be part of an interdisciplinary 
research team comprising more than 120 senior and
junior researchers and students; they will have continuous access to a 
network of international partners and will
actively participate in international projects.
The fellowships for the selected students are € 14.500 per year plus 
free meals at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna canteen.
