RoboCup Exhibition and Engagement Event, Eisteddfod of Wales 2010

August 5 – 7, 2010
Ebbw Vale, UK

The RoboCup Exhibition and Engagement Event, Eisteddfod of Wales, 2010 (RC4EW) (http://ril.newport.ac.uk/rc4ew/) is a unique RoboCup event promoting RoboCup in the UK and engaging the public in interaction with RoboCup technology. The event is collocated with the National Eisteddfod (festival) of Wales, 2010 (http://www.eisteddfod.org.uk/english/).

The event will include three competitions:

· Standard Platform League (SPL)

· Simulation3D League (S3DL)

· Open Technical Challenge (OTC)

For both (SPL) and (S3DL) there will be the option of remote participation (see below) and in each category, an invited distinguished team will guarantee a high level of opposition. For the open technical challenge, the best overall contribution, e.g., running, passing or dribbling, towards the RoboCup 2050 goal of defeating the reigning human world champions will be declared the winner. The winner in each category will receive a price of £500.

The event will also include opportunities for the public to participate in RoboCup-related activities, matches and penalty shoot outs, through gamepads and motion capture technology. There will also be a public seminar on the Saturday presenting the philosophy and contributions of RoboCup to the general public. Participants will be expected to contribute a 15 minutes presentation of their teams aimed at the public as part of this seminar.

To (pre-) register, please email torbjorn.dahl at newport.ac.uk.
