Call for Workshop and Tutorial Proposals for the 2011 Robotics:
Science and Systems (RSS) conference held on June 27-June 30, 2011
at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, CA, USA

Important Dates:

December 15, 2010 submission deadline for the proposed topic
February 1, 2011 submission deadline for the full proposal
March 15, 2011 notification
June 27-June 28, 2011 workshops/tutorials take place
June 28-June 30, 2011 main conference takes place

The Organizing Committee for the 2011 Robotics: Science and Systems
Conference (RSS 2011) requests proposals for full and half-day
workshops and tutorials to be held on June 27 and June 28, 2011 at the
University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, CA, USA. One
and a half day of workshops and tutorials will precede the main
conference, which takes place from the afternoon of June 28 through
June 30, 2011. RSS brings together researchers working on algorithmic
or mathematical foundations of robotics, robotics applications, and
the analysis of robotic systems. The workshops have consistently
provided high-quality, topically-focused forums for researchers at the
forefront of robotics.

Prospective workshop and tutorial organizers should email a brief,
single-paragraph description of the proposed topic and a list of
organizers by December 15, 2010.

A template for the final proposal which has to be submitted by
February 1, 2011 will then be sent to you. This template will provide
the expected constraints of full-day and half-day workshops and
tutorials (including starting and ending times, coffee-breaks,
capacity of available rooms) and will request information for the full
proposal. As will be indicated in the template, the full proposal
submission should include a title, an abstract appropriate for
promotion of the event on the RSS website, a description of the
proposed content, a tentative schedule and list of speakers, a plan
for soliciting participation, a URL for the workshop or tutorial, and
expected requirements for space and equipment, among others. We expect
full proposals to be approximately 2-3 pages in length.

Full proposals for review will be due February 1, 2011. Full
proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage early
submissions. All decisions will be made by March 15, 2011. We
recommend that workshops and tutorials be designed to promote
discussion among the participants. Priority will be given to proposals
that effectively address this issue.
