BRICS - Best Practice in Robotics
2nd BRICS Research Camp "From 3D robot sensing to 3D models"
Fuerteventura, Spain
May 23 - 27, 2011

We invite Ph.D. students and post docs with a strong background in 3D
perception and modeling and a group of renowned experts in that field
from all over the world to gather for one week in a stimulating
environment to discuss the state of the art and challenges and future
avenues in 3D robot perception and modeling. The research camp has a
strong experimental character, where software is explored and evaluated
towards its use and reuse for some given tasks and challenges.

Provided input:
* inspiring working environment
* travel grants covering airfare and full-board accommodation
* latest hardware for robotic 3D perception:
    - 3D sensors
    - KUKA youBot mobile manipulators
* software collection on 3D perception and modeling algorithms and
    libraries
* experimental setting for exploring and evaluating existing software
* stage for junior and senior researcher to discuss together best
   practice in 3D perception and modeling.

Expected output:
* software reviews of state of the art algorithms and libraries
* architectural patterns and building blocks for 3D perception
    and modeling in the context of the paradigm shift from "sensor
    pipelines" to "sensor networks"
* requirements for harmonized interfaces
* draft of research road map for 3D robotic perception and modeling
* joint publications (in the aftermath of research camp)

Applications should include:
* CV with publication list
* short description of experience with software in 3D perception
    and modeling

and should be sent to:
