Call for Preliminary Proposals for
Hosting IROS 2017 in North America

The IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) annually brings together an international community of researchers,
educators and practitioners in the field of intelligent robots and systems to discuss the latest advancements in robotics and intelligent systems,
and shape its future directions in research and education.

The IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems is co-sponsored by four professional societies – The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS),
The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), The Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), and the Society of Instruments and Control Engineers (SICE) – and technical co-sponsored by the New Technology Foundation (NTF)
and the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems (ICROS).

In keeping with the IROS conference policies, the IROS Advisory/Steering Committee meets annually to manage IROS conference matters
and evaluate proposals for hosting future IROS conferences.
The IROS Advisory/Steering Committee usually determines future IROS conferences 5 years out, and in synchronization with ICRA conferences,
no IROS and ICRA conferences will be held in a same continent in a same year (Asia, North America, and Europe).
Future IROS conferences that have been approved are listed here for your consideration:

IROS 2012: Vilamoura-Algarve, Portugal
IROS 2013: Tokyo, Japan
IROS 2014: Chicago, Illinois, USA
IROS 2015: Hamburg, Germany
IROS 2016: Asia (Four competing proposals will be evaluated at the upcoming IROS Advisory/Steering Committee Meeting at IROS 2011 in San Francisco, CA, U.S.A., http://www.iros2011.org)

IROS 2017: North America (Call for Preliminary proposals to host IROS 2017)
IROS 2018: Europe (Call for Preliminary proposals to host IROS 2018)

The IROS Advisory/Steering Committee cordially invites any interested robotics researchers to submit their preliminary proposals to host IROS 2017 conference in North America and present their proposals at the upcoming IROS Advisory/Steering Committee meeting. If you are interested, please send your inquiry to csglee at purdue.edu Details about IROS conferences can be found at http://www.iros.org

If you have any questions about IROS conferences and/or this call for preliminary proposals to host IROS 2017 conference in North America, please contact csglee at purdue.edu

We look forward to seeing you all at IROS 2011 in San Francisco!

With best wishes,
C.S. George Lee Toshio Fukuda
