Call for Papers: IROS 50 Years of Robotics Symposium on Aerial Robotics
Deadline: March 14, 2011

Dear Colleagues,

This year IROS will feature a series of special symposia to celebrate the achievements of the last 50 years of robotics. We are proposing a special symposium on aerial robotics. Research in the field of aerial robotics has evolved from early results in autonomous tethered hovering to flight through unstructured environments with real-time estimation, perception, and adaptation. The challenges of aerial robotics are numerous and researchers must consider theory spanning a broad range of topics. This full-day symposium highlights recent results in aerial robotics covering topics in the areas of dynamics and control, estimation and perception, learning and adaptation, multi-robot systems, and applications of aerial robots. The symposium will include invited talks and papers from several experts in each of these topic areas. Additionally, brief video and multimedia sessions following several of the topic areas will present current results at the time of the symposium.

If you are interested in submitting a paper to this special symposium, please consider contacting one of us (noted below) for further details. Please note that all submissions for this symposium must be submitted via PaperPlaza and are required to go through the standard review process.

Thank you,
