IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine (RAM) seeks articles for

a special issue on Mobile Manipulation, scheduled for publication
in June 2012.

Abstract

========

The ultimate goal of Autonomous Mobile Manipulation is the

execution of complex manipulation tasks in unstructured and

dynamic environments, where cooperation with humans may be

required. To achieve this goal, several scientific and engineering

challenges, currently beyond the state of the art in robotics,

must be addressed including generality, uncertainty, high

dimensionality, and the complexity of system hardware.

Scope

======

The scope of this special issue encompasses papers that address

one or more of the aforementioned challenges of mobile

manipulation. The topics of interest include the following:

o Towards fast, predictable, and optimal manipulation planning

o Representing dynamic and cluttered worlds

o Forceful interaction with the physical world

o Human-robot interaction

o Novel hardware and system integration

o Benchmarks for mobile manipulation
