International Journal of Social Robotics 

Special Issue on Emotional Expression and Its Applications



The International Journal of Social Robotics invites papers for a special
issue on emotional expression and its applications.


As social robots are communicated with humans as their partners, emotional
system performs an important role in human-robot interaction. Emotional
expressions and interactions are essential to social robots and applied to
various areas, for example, showing performance in theater, assisting and
healing humans, etc. 


This special issue will focus on the current advances in the area of
emotional expression of social robots and its applications, including
techniques for facial and behavior generation, mechanisms of expression
systems, and evaluations of emotional systems. Papers are solicited on all
areas directly related to these topics, including but not limited to:


- Social human robot interaction

- Emotion based robot systems

- Cultural Performance robot systems

- Assisting and healing robot systems

- Facial expression

- Behavior generation

- Gesture based programming

- Imitating human emotion and gesture

- Modeling and capturing Human behavior

- Emotional model


Papers must contain high-quality original contributions and be prepared in
accordance with IJSR guidelines. Authors who intend to submit a manuscript
are encouraged to contact the guest editors as soon as possible in order to
ensure that the planned submission falls within the aims and scope of the
special issue. All papers will be reviewed following the regular reviewing
procedure of the Journal.

Submission of Manuscripts (deadline): May 1, 2012 

Notification of Acceptance: August 1, 2012

Submission of Final Paper: September 1, 2012

Final Acceptance: November 15, 2012

Publication: January or April, 2013
