The 5th Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics 2012 is fast approaching and will be held at The Royal Geographical Society in London on 1st and 2nd of July 2012.
The programme has been released and can be found on the website http://www.hamlyn-robotics.org/ Spaces are limited, so please register quickly. To register please click on the link attached http://www.hamlyn-robotics.org/ and then click on the registration tab.
The theme for this year's symposium is "towards flexible access, bio-inspired design, minimized footprint, and wider clinical uptake" with an impressive line-up of leading scientists and engineers in bioinspired robots, and snake robots in particular, as invited speakers.
The speakers invited include Professor Howie Choset, Professor Pierre Dupont, and Dr Vipul Patel, who will provide insights into the cutting edge developments in this field. The keynote will be delivered by Professor Shigeo Hirose, who will provide an overview of "Biologically Inspired Robots: Snake-like, Spider-like Robots and Others". In addition, this year, Professor Richard Satava will give the inaugural Karl Storz-Harold Hopkins lecture on
"Developing Next Generation Robots".
We are also running a number of workshops on the 30th June and 3rd July to help inspire the next generation of engineers and clinicians. Complementing the main Symposium, workshops will give participants an opportunity to learn from the leaders in the field of medical robotics and gain an in depth knowledge of advanced surgical technologies. For further information please see details listed under the workshops tab http://www.hamlyn-robotics.org/
