PETRA 2012 - 2nd Workshop on Robotics in Assistive Environments

--Workshop Theme and Goals--

The 2nd Workshop on Assistive Robotics will bring together experts in robotics, computer vision, health science, psychology, social and cognitive sciences, to discuss recent and future advances in robotics and their use in assistive environments to enhance the quality of life.
Assistive robotics encompasses a growing and increasing community that merges researchers and industry with the objective of creating robotics applications and solutions to ameliorate the quality of life of human beings. Due to the fact that robots can interact with the environment and redeploy their sensing and end-effector assets, they can accomplish much more complex tasks than stationary sensors. We believe that only the tight collaboration among many disciplines in science and engineering will allow assistive robotics to enhance the quality of life for large populations of users.
Accepted workshop papers will be included in both the electronic conference proceedings and in the ACM Digital Library. Furthermore, a selection of best papers will be invited for publication in a special issue of the Personal and Ubiquitous Computing Journal (Springer).
