CALL FOR PAPERS

RSS 2012 Workshop on Long Term Operations of Autonomous Robotic Systems
in Changing Environments

URL:http://ais.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/longtermoperation_ws12rss

July 11 - July 12, 2012
Robotics: Science and Systems Conference (RSS) 2012, University of
Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia

The reliable operation of autonomous systems over extended periods
of time has been
gaining increasing attention in recent years. It is a key aspect in many
research projects
and a fundamental requirement for any mobile robotic application in the
industry. The aim of
this workshop is to bring together researchers from different fields and
provide a place for
discussing the theoretical and practical challenges associated to the
reliable operation of
autonomous systems over extended periods of time in changing
environment. The workshop will
feature oral presentations and posters from contributed papers as well
as invited talks from
experts in the field.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

     - Modeling changing environments and robotic systems
     - State estimation and planning in non-static environments
     - Lifelong learning
     - Efficient and reliable system design
     - Failure detection and recovery
     - Resource (e.g. energy) management

Important Dates:

     Paper submission:            May 12, 2012;
     Acceptance notification:  June 15, 2012;

Submission:

We invite submissions of papers on the topic presenting new or
ongoing research.
The authors of the accepted papers will have the opportunity to give a
brief talk or present
a poster at the workshop.

Papers will be reviewed by the program committee and should be submitted
as PDF files
(maximum 6 pages) in RSS regular paper format.

Please email submissions to: rss12ws at informatik.uni-freiburg.de
