We would appreciate if you could please help us by circulating the 
following available job positions to your post-docs and final year PhD 
students that might find it interesting.

We are looking for two post-docs for the project that is collaboration 
between Bristol Robotics Laboratory, Bristol Royal Infirmary and 
MatOrtho company. The successful candidate will be working under the 
supervision of Dr Sanja Dogramadzi (Bristol Robotics Laboratory) and 
Prof. Roger Atkins (Bristol Royal Infirmary). 

The purpose of the project is to develop a minimally invasive robot-
assisted orthopaedic system for treating complex joint fractures using 
state of the art imaging (CT) and tracking systems. This presents a 
unique opportunity for highly motivated and creative robotics engineers 
to develop a cutting edge robotic application that has already passed 
through a prototyping stage. This is a technology transfer type of 
project that has to meet the following objectives:
1. Design and develop the robotic system’s components according to the 
end-users’ specifications 
2. System integration and control implementation with a navigation 
system 
3. Test and validation in a laboratory setup
4. Test and validation on cadaveric models


Research Fellow – Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer: You will be 
responsible for mechanical design and control of a robotic system 
comprised of multiple robots in surgical environment. You will have a 
highly technical role requiring the research and development of parallel 
robots and high precision mechanisms. This post will lead procurement, 
design and development of advanced robot hardware and software, with 
ultimate responsibility for the full range of design from mechanical to 
control and low level software. You should have a degree in Engineering 
or a closely related subject, and graduate experience in computer aided 
design, control systems, parallel robots, real time embedded software 
and finite element analysis of physical systems. 
We are looking for
•	1st class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics 
or related subject
•	PhD or other higher degree in the area of robotics or mechanical 
engineering

With experience in  consultancy or practice in one or more aspects 
relating to the aims of the project, familiarity with techniques of 
project management, a track record of academic publication in a relevant 
area.

Research Fellow - Software and Electronics Engineer: You will be 
responsible for electronics and embedded software design on the system 
that includes surgical registration software. You will also have a 
highly technical role in development of force and position feedback for 
a system that comprises multiple robots, intra-surgical imaging system 
and external tracking system.  You should have a degree in Engineering 
or a closely related subject, and graduate experience in software 
engineering, control systems, real time embedded software and image 
processing software. 
We are looking for
•	1st class honours degree in Software or Electronic Engineering, 
Mechatronics or related subject
•	PhD or other higher degree in the area of robotics or software 
engineering
•	experience in Medical Image Processing and in using surgical 
navigation systems
•	familiarity with CT imaging formats
