14th Towards Autonomous Robotic Systems (TAROS-13)
August 28-30 2013

St. Anne's College, Oxford, U.K.

Final call for registration to TAROS 2013 conference and the Industry day (30th
August 2013).

The 14th Annual Towards Autonomous Robotics Systems Conference (TAROS 2013) is
the UK's premiere annual conference for autonomous robotics and is taking place
between 28 and 30 August 2013 in Oxford. The conference encompasses topics
across the entire range of robotics research.

TAROS is a platform for robotics researchers with a wide range of interests
from the UK, Europe and

TAROS welcomes senior researchers and research students alike, and specifically
provides opportunities for research students and young research scientists and
industry personnel to present their work to the scientific community.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) are sponsoring an invited
public lecture, Springer have agreed to sponsor the best paper prize, and the
British Automation and Robot Association (BARA) are sponsoring the TAROS-13
industry day (30th August) in conjunction with the BARA Academic Forum for
Robotics (AFR).

******Keynote Speakers include: ******

Prof. John Hallam, The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller
Institute, Odense, Denmark.

Prof. Paul Newman, Head of Mobile Robotics
Group, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK.

Dr. Arnoud Visser,
Intelligent Autonomous Systems Group, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Detailed programme can be obtained from TAROS website.

TAROS 2013 - Industry Day - 30th August 2013.

As part of the conference programme, the Robotics & Autonomous Systems SIG and
the IET Robotics and Mechatronics Network invite you to join them for a day
focused on European and UK business opportunities for robotics and autonomous
systems for the industry day (30th August 2013).

Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a
Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global
competitiveness. Running from 2014 to 2020 with an €80 billion budget, the
EU’s new programme for research and innovation is part of the drive to create
new growth and jobs in Europe.

In the morning session, speakers from EU-DG Connect, the Robotics PPP, the
Department for Business Innovations and Skills and Robolution Capital will
explain how important Horizon 2020 is to UK business, how to prepare for
upcomming funding calls, how to engage with and help steer the funding
programme and how private capital can play a role.

During the afternoon, speakers from the food, energy, transport, health and
modern built environment sectors will give an overview of the current state of
their market and the future needs/opportunities for robotics and autonomos
systems. Roundatable discussion workshops will give attendess the opportunity
to discuss in more depth the end user needs and potential RAS solutions.
