My book Disaster Robotics (MIT Press with ebook versions for iBook and Kindle) is now available in hardcover and ebook formats. The book documents the use of tactical ground, aerial, or marine robots at 34 incidents between 2001 and 2013 and their performance using a formal failure taxonomy.

For each modality (ground, aerial, and marine), the book covers the
- types of platforms within that modality
- operational environments, including metrics such as dimensionless numbers for categorizing robots for an environment
- specific missions and tasks that robots have been used for
- incidents that robots have been used at, performance, and failures using the failure taxonomy
- selection heuristics to match a robot to a disaster
- surprises, gaps, and open research questions
