    Paladyn. Journal of Behavioral Robotics
    Special Issue on Assistive Robotics

Paladyn. Journal of Behavioral Robotics invites manuscripts for the Special Issue on Assistive Robotics.

Assistive robotics aims to bring advanced robotic technologies to the arena of independent living by supporting those with physical/cognitive as well as chronic/degenerative disabilities. Assistive robotic devices range from indoor service robotic devices to social assistive robotics, as well as encompass recent trends where robotic technologies are integrated with sensor networks and ambient intelligence. Within assistive robotics, the role of the user is paramount and therefore evaluations done in-situ with real user feedback are crucial to understanding factors such as acceptance, utility, safety, etc. The result is that assistive robotics is a multidisciplinary field addressing the latest in sensing, actuation, cognition and psychology and more.

We encourage authors to discuss recent progress and directions for future research by submitting publication in following topics (the scope of this topical issue includes, but is not limited to):

    •    domestic robotics and service robots;
    •    socially assistive robotics;
    •    partner robots for rehabilitation and development;
    •    social robotic telepresence for elderly and disabled people;
    •    robotics in smart environments for ambient assisted living;
    •    human-robot interaction;
    • evaluation methodologies for assistive robotics.

Multidisciplinary submissions concerning theoretical and practical aspects of assistive robotics as well as social and medical impacts of such devices and technologies are invited.

    Manuscript Submission

The authors are kindly invited to register at the paper processing system at www.editorialmanager.com/paladyn<http://www.editorialmanager.com/paladyn> and submit their contribution using a special track established for this topical issue.
