We look forward to welcoming you at the 38th annual Mechanisms and
Robotics Conference to be held as part of the 2014 ASME International
Design Engineering Technical Conferences in Buffalo, NY this August.
http://www.asmeconferences.org/idetc2014/

As you prepare to make travel plans, we hope that you will consider
attending another special event that is being organized this year.

The Mechanisms and Robotics Committee is sponsoring a 2-day
*Kinematic**s **Summer
School* to be held immediately preceding the conference, *August 15-16*, on
the campus of the University at Buffalo. The summer school will bring
together experts from the community to provide two full days of instruction
and practical application on topics such as screw theory, quaternions and
Clifford algebras, homotopy, continuation methods and algebraic geometry.
The goal is to provide interested PhD students and faculty access to the
fundamentals of these topics, to enable easier entry into the associated
research domains and to encourage proliferation of graduate courses in
these areas. The $100 registration will include breakfast/lunch/dinner for
both days as well as lodging in the dormitories on campus for 3 nights.
Quite a bargain, and hopefully a significant professional development
experience!

Registration will be *limited to 50 participants* based on capacity, so *please
register early* to ensure your spot. If you are an advisor of deserving
graduate students, or if you have co-authors/collaborators who would be
interested, please help us reach these individuals by forwarding this
message.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you in August.

Sincerely,
 Carl Nelson and Anurag Purwar
