Algorithmic motion planning has been actively studied in robotics and
related areas for more than three decades. Although a rich collection of
motion planning algorithms has been developed from applications in CAD/CAM,
bioinformatics, and gaming, research into motion-planning techniques for
industrial robots has been limited. Following the success of an
international forum on this topic held at iREX 2013 in Tokyo
(http://www.nikkan.co.jp/eve/irex/english/symposium/3.html), we are
organizing this workshop at ICRA'2014 to address the gap between theory and
practice in the area of motion planning in applied robotics. The workshop's
main goal is to identify issues hindering the development of appropriate
motion-planning methods to be used on current and future industrial
platforms.

The workshop program will consist of invited talks and contributed
presentations. We request 2-page abstracts from both researchers and
practitioners that address these issues or present results related to the
use of motion planning techniques with industrial robots.

SUBMISSIONS: please send a two-page abstract using IEEE conference standard
format to Dinesh Manocha (dm at cs.unc.edu <mailto:dm at cs.unc.edu> ). The
details on IEEE Conference format are given at:
