CFP: The 3rd Telerobotics Workshop at IROS 2014

Telerobotics for Real-Life Applications: Opportunities, Challenges, and New Developments

Being one of the oldest subjects in robotics, telerobotics has enjoyed exciting theoretical advances and significant practical impacts in many applications. Even so, how to engineer a telerobotic system, which is complex enough to be truly useful in practice, yet, still easy to operate even with limited information-exchange and/or imperfect communication, has been a formidable challenge for the telerobotics community.

Standing upon the success of similar workshops in IROS 2011 an ICRA 2012, the 3rd Telerobotics Workshop will be held on 9/18/2014 at Chicago, USA in conjunction with the IROS 2014. The Workshop is organized by the Telerobotics TC of the IEEE-RAS (http://www.ieee-ras.org/telerobotics)

The main aim of the 3rd Telerobotics Workshop is to provide a forum for exchange of ideas among the users and researchers, to discuss challenges and barriers to real-life applications of telerobotics systems and to explore innovative/promising solutions to these problems. For this, we solicit papers from the research community on any aspects of telerobotics, particularly those with great promise to enable practical telerobotics applications via non-conventional approaches or refreshing application of conventional ideas. All accepted papers will be presented over three interactive poster sessions to facilitate causal interaction and in-depth discussion among the workshop participants. A selected number of highly innovative and practically-promising papers will also be given 15min oral presentation.
