ABSTRACT
The aerospace industry moves towards highly advanced automated and
intelligent systems. Aerospaceproduction is a relatively slow, low-volume,
high-value process compared to other manufacturing. The ‘volume’ demand is
not the product throughput, but rather the high number of process steps
required to complete the plane. The aerospace companies are using robots
and automated guided vehicles for automating applications for the same
reasons other industries, like automotive, have been using them. The use of
humanoid robots will be a reality in the next future. In both aeronautical
and space applications humanoids robots will play a key role. In the field
of aeronautical applications, robotic manufacturing performs drilling,
sealing and dispensing, repetitive welding, deburring, and other tasks
like  inspection will predominate, e.g. in composite material handling,
advanced manufacturing collaborative work, hazardous environment
inspections in the aircrafts, etc. In the field of space the emerging
applications are satellite manipulation in space, robotized experimentation
in space crafts, planetary exploration, etc. Both of them will use
transverse technologies and crossover fertilization based on intelligent
HMI, data fusion, big data management, ground segment software systems, and
advanced dynamic simulators.
>From this workshop, we expect participating researchers and professionals
from aerospace industry to identify and address important challenges,
techniques, and benchmarks necessary for complex task for humanoids in
factory/space mission environment.
We want to discuss real experiences, open problems and important next steps
needed in order to make the presence of humanoids robots in this industry a
reality in future years.
Researchers will also have the opportunity to present their most recent
results and get feedback from fellow scientists and experts in the field.
The workshop is intended as an open platform for sharing and discussing new
ideas and open problems related with the feasibility of humanoids
technologies applied toindustry and aerospace related scenarios

*WORKSHOP** FORMAT*:
This half-day workshop will consist of several invited presentations from
experts in the field as well as selected contributed short presentations
and an interactive poster session. All posters will be introduced in an
additional teaser session. Slides, abstracts and posters will be made
available on the workshopwebsite.

*TOPICS*

Include, but are not limited to:

- Motion and action planning for assembly operations at workplace
- Perception and processing algorithms in assembly or inspection operations
- Team coordination ( humans and humanoids workers)
- Skill and strategy learning
- Integration 3D vision, data fusion and techniques for empowering
humanoids skills.
- 3D simulation of humanoid robots performing Aerospace related task
- Feasibility studies and prospection of industry trends
- Cases studies and running projects real experiences on the field

*CONTRIBUTING*

All contributed presentations are subject to a peer review process. We
solicit submissions of original extended abstract, previously unpublished
materials, optionally accompanied by a video. Extended Abstracts should be
up to 2 pages in length, formatted according to regular IEEE two-column
PDF-for IEEE conference layout.

Accepted abstract and videos will be available online.
