euRathlon project:
euRathlon is a new outdoor robotics competition that invites teams to test the intelligence and autonomy of their robots in challenging scenarios. Specifically, the project proposes and organizes three different competitions: a land robotics competition carried out in Berchtesgaden, Germany, in September 2013; a sea robotics competition held in La Spezia, Italy in September-October 2014 and finally the euRathlon Grand Challenge involving the cooperation of robots from the sea, land and air domains that will be held in Italy in 2015. The 2015 euRathlon Grand Challenge will propose challenges inspired by the 2011 Fukushima
accident and will require a combined team of robots to work together to survey the area of interest, collect environmental data, identify critical hazards and intervene on equipment present on the scene. Only through robot cooperation will the teams be able to successfully accomplish the proposed tasks.
The call for the registration in the 'Grand challenge' 2015 competition will be soon published on the euRathlon website (www.eurathlon.eu).
euRathlon is a project funded by the European Commission under its Seventh Framework Programme for Research (FP7). Professor Alan Winfield of the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) and the University of the West of England (UWE) is leading the euRathlon consortium with six partner organizations.

CALL for the loan of a AUV (SPARUS II) is now open!
The euRathlon consortium will loan one SPARUS II AUV manufactured by the University of Girona to a selected applicant team.
Providing robust platforms and instruments to the teams will clearly allow for shifting of the focus on cognition, intelligence, and autonomy of the robots.
In addition, this approach will potentially attract non-sea domain researchers to enter 2015 event and, in turn, increase their chance of winning the 2015 ‘grand challenge’ event combining their cross domain platforms.
The teams wishing to borrow the AUV must apply to the EURATHLON Consortium, following the procedure described on the website.
Applications received will be evaluated by the Consortium to select the team who will be granted the loan equipment.
The teams applying for loan equipment must register to participate in the euRathlon 2015 competition.

The deadline for application is 30 November, 2014. Please see www.eurathlon.eu<http://www.eurathlon.eu> for detailed information.
The University/Centre or company teams must be within the European Union (EU).

Sincerely,
