Dear all, please remind that today is the last day for early bird registration to CRAS 2015 !

Please do not forget to use the provided access codes, as this is necessary in order to pay through EurEyeCase. Otherwise a separate budget will be needed.

This year we will also have a special session on H2020 - Opportunities for Computer/Robot Assisted Surgery in H2020.

Started by a Keynote lecture by Michel Brochard, DG Connect A2 Robotics, European Commission, followed by a panel session

and discussion on MAR.

Looking forward to see you in Brussels !

CRAS 2015

5th Joint Workshop on New Technologies for Computer/Robot Assisted Surgery

=============================================================

Dates: September 10-12, 2015

Venue: Brussels, Belgium

Website: www.cras-eu.org<http://www.cras-eu.org>

Workshop Motivation:

Joining Efforts - Progressing Faster

Robotic surgery is one of the most appealing fields of modern robotics. With over 2 decades history, more than 2.000 systems installed worldwide and over 200.000 interventions conducted per annum; the field of robotic surgery is considered well-established. Despite these impressive figures and increasing popularity in research labs all over the world, the list of technological advances that made it into the operating room (OR) during this last decade is fairly limited. Long expected techniques such as 3D reconstruction, motion compensation, virtual guidance, haptic feedback, under study in many labs all over the planet did not make their appearance into the market yet. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and clinicians involved in computer and/or robot assisted surgery to provide a clear view on the status and recent trends in this field and to propose concrete measures to achieve a critical mass in research and innovation in this field.

Workshop Co-Chairs:

* Paolo Fiorini, University of Verona, Italy * Leonardo Mattos, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Genoa, Italy * Benoît Herman, Université catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium * Emmanuel Vander Poorten, KU Leuven, Heverlee, Belgium

Workshop Topics:

Specific topics of interest include, amongst others:

* registration, segmentation and modeling; * motion compensation and active guidance; * human-robot collaboration and shared control; * workflow analysis and episode segmentation; * machine learning and cognitive surgical robotics; * surgical skill assessment; * usability and user-acceptance; * surgical training; * tactile and haptic feedback; * variable stiffness robotic systems; * novel robotic hardware and sensors; * novel interfaces; * standardization and regulation; * system integration; * safety and dependability; * synergies and clustering; * visionary works and roadmaps.

The city:

Brussels, the Capital of Europe, is the center of Belgium. Apart from the top restaurants, you have more than 1150 original Belgian beers to taste. Brussels is an international spawning ground for the arts, primarily as the crossroads of the Germanic and Latin cultures. Brussels is carving itself a role as an international focal point in various artistic realms such as contemporary dance and the opera. Artistic giants such as world famous painters Rubens, Breughel, Ensor, Delvaux and Magritte have passed here. Also other beautiful such cities as Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and Liège can be reached in less than 2 hours drive.
