Special issue on “Biorobotics & Cyborgs” for the journal "Unmanned Systems"

The merging between robotics and biology is sparking more research opportunities. Biological phenomena are inspiring robotics innovations in mechanisms, actuation, sensing, control, etc. In return, applying automation and intelligence technology to biology and medicine is significantly contributing to new understandings of biological systems, and new methodologies in the field of medical robotics. This special session, themed with “Biorobotics & Cyborgs”, will focus on the recent advancements in cyborgs, biorobotics, automation and intelligence in biomedicine and their associated leveraging areas.

The main topics include, but are not limited to:
- Biologically inspired robotics
- Automation, Control and Artificial Intelligence in Medical Robotics
- Rehabilitation Systems & Intelligence
- Towards unmanned surgical automation with human-in-the loop
- Unmanned Image-Guided procedures
- Human-in-the-loop Compliant System
- Computer-Assisted Unmanned Procedures
- Cyborg system
- Tele-medicine
- Multi-sensor data fusion
