Call for euRathlon 2015 Grand Challenge robotics competition (marine, land and flying robots) + reminder call for one SPARUS II AUV

Dear friends and colleagues,

The Grand Challenge euRathlon 2015 call is now open! You can access to all the required information at: http://www.eurathlon.eu/site/index.php/compete/

euRathlon FP7 project:
euRathlon is a new outdoor robotics competition that invites teams to test the intelligence and autonomy of their robots in challenging scenarios. Professor Alan Winfield of the University of the West of England (UWE) is leading the euRathlon consortium with six partner organizations.

Specifically, the project, financed by the European Commission through the FP7 programme, proposes and organizes three different competitions: a land robotics competition carried out in Berchtesgaden, Germany, in September 2013; a sea robotics competition held at CMRE, in La Spezia, Italy in 2014 and finally the euRathlon Grand Challenge involving the cooperation of robots from the sea, land and air domains that will be held in Piombino, Italy, from 17 to 25 of September, 2015.

euRathlon 2015 Grand Challenge multi-domain competition:
The 2015 euRathlon Grand Challenge will propose challenges inspired by the 2011 Fukushima accident and will require a combined team of robots to work together to survey the area of interest, collect environmental data, identify critical hazards and intervene on equipment present on the scene. Only through robot cooperation will the teams be able to successfully accomplish the proposed tasks.
Team matching will be possible during 2015 and will be helped by the euRathlon consortium, so it is not mandatory to cover the three domains by just one team.

You can find all the information about euRathlon (also about team-matching) in our website: http://www.eurathlon.eu/

Hope this will be of your interest.

Let us know if you have interest in being exhibitors or sponsor of the event!

Looking forward to meeting you next year in the competition!

The teams wishing to borrow the AUV must apply to the EURATHLON Consortium, following the procedure described on the website.

See: http://www.eurathlon.eu/site/index.php/compete/loan/

Applications received will be evaluated by the Consortium to select the teams who will be granted the loan equipment. The deadline to apply is November 30.

THE TEAMS APPLYING FOR LOAN EQUIPMENT MUST BE REGISTERED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EURATHLON 2015 COMPETITION.

THE UNIVERSITY/CENTRE OR COMPANY TEAMS MUST BELONG TO THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU).
