ICAR 2015 full-day Tutorial and Workshop on Cognitive Surgical Robotics

http://icar2015.org/icar2015_workshops_and_tutorials-1.2.24.html

Monday, 27th of July, 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

************************************************************************

Organizers: Riccardo Muradore e Paolo Fiorini

This tutorial aims at introducing the main concepts of robotic surgery and
to discuss the emerging field of cognitive robotic surgery. The addition of
cognition to robotic surgery involves the integration of advanced perceptual
and reasoning capabilities that require detailed models and accurate control.
Examples of cognitive features are surgical task analysis, situation awareness,
and automatic task execution.

This tutorial will be organized in four main sections: (i) basic concepts of design
and (ii) control of a surgical robot, (iii) the issues of task modeling and of (iv)
integration of perception and reasoning into the surgical robot control loop.
Solutions to these issues have been developed during the European Project I-SUR
(Intelligent Surgical Robot) and the specific solutions adopted will be presented
during the tutorial.

To report on the most recent results, and to continue the discussion started at the
Hamlyn Symposium, we have decided to add a small workshop at the end of the tutorial.
For this reason we are inviting researchers working on cognition in robot-assisted surgery
to submit a 1/2 page abstract to report on their late-breaking news.

Accepted abstracts will be presented during the afternoon workshop session.

Important Dates
----------------
1/2 page abstracts deadline: June 25th, 2015
Notification of acceptance: July 30th, 2015

Submit your abstract to paolo.fiorini at univr.it and riccardo.muradore at univr.it

Best regards,
