R2T2 ( http://r2t2.org ) is the first international online education event where 100 participants, between 8 and 16 years old, will program distant robots to solve together a rescue mission.

This event will be broadcasted live on YouTube

	on November 4th, starting at 13:30 GMT+1

during the Swiss Robotics Industry Day of the NCCR Robotics (www.nccr-robotics.ch)

The scenario of a rescue after a disaster on Mars could be the one of the movie « The Martian ». But here everything, excepted Mars, is true: remote controlled robots, communication delays due to distance, teams of robot operators that are thousands of kilometers away from each other but working together to succeed in their mission. Small detail : the operators are between 8 and 16 years old and will participate from their schools in Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, Russia and South Africa. Together they will have to solve a common rescue task with real robots located at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. This world first international cooperation in education based on a cooperative rescue task is organized by the Swiss National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) Robotics. R2T2 takes advantage of the Thymio robot, a teaching tool developed in the NCCR Robotics.
