Call for papers:
The 5th Israeli Conference on Robotics (ICR2016)
ISRACAS'2016 The 16th Israeli Symposium on Computer-Aided Surgery, Medical Robotics, And Medical Imaging
April 13-14, 2016
Submission deadline has been extended to December 6, 2015
The Israeli Conference on Robotics (ICR) provides a forum for Israeli and foreign researchers and engineers from industry and academia to discuss and exchange ideas on contemporary topics in robotics and automation. It is also intended to encourage local and international collaborations, and foster a viable robotics industry in Israel. Specific goals of ICR2016 are to promote robotics as a field of national priority, promote innovation and support entrepreneurs in the robotics field, promote robotics education, and encourage the use of robotics and automation in the traditional industries, in agriculture, and in assisting the elderly population. The scientific program will include plenary talks, panel discussions, an entrepreneurs forum, and presentations of contributed and invited papers in several technical tracks. The scope of the conference covers topics that range from theoretical developments to industrial applications and emphasize current interests of the local robotics community and perceived needs of the Israeli industry and economy.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
Robots in agriculture
Security and defense applications
Biologically inspired systems
Navigation and motion planning
Localization and mapping
Robot dynamics and control
ISRACAS'2016 is Endorsed by the International Society of Computer Aided Surgery, Israeli Society for Medical and Biological Engineering, Israel Life Science Industry, IEEE Israel Section. The goal of the Symposium is to convene in Israel clinicians, scientists, and engineers actively interested in medical imaging, computer science, and robotics, and their application to the planning, monitoring, and execution of medical surgeries. The symposium is the sequel of fifteen ISRACAS symposia, held since 1998 in Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel-Aviv. Each was attended by participants from health care centers, industry, and academia. The events included invited speakers, oral presentations of refereed papers, industrial exhibits, and system demonstrations.
Symposium topics include Relevant research in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, and Electrical Engineering including but not limited to:
- Medical robotics
- Surgical simulators
- Multi-modal image reconstruction, segmentation, and registration
- Virtual and augmented reality surgery
- Computer-aided diagnosis and preoperative planning
- Intraoperative surgical monitoring, support, and planning
- Anatomical modeling, atlases
- Medical image processing: segmentation, registration, visualization.
All medical specialties include but are not limited to:
- Radiology, interventional radiology
- Orthopaedics and traumatology
- Laparoscopy, endoscopy, arthroscopy
- Cardiovascular surgery
- Maxillofacial and craniofacial surgery
We particularly encourage the submission of works describing clinical experience with computer-aided and robotics surgical systems.

Potential contributors are requested to submit short abstracts of up to 2000 characters on any of the topics covered by the ICR conference by December 6, 2015. Notification of acceptance will be sent by December 31, 2015. Authors of accepted abstracts will be requested to submit a camera-ready single-page abstract by January 31, 2016. The submission of a full-length paper is optional. The accepted abstracts and papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
This year we would like to have an additional poster session, for promoting presentation of innovative research ideas in preliminary research stages. Accordingly accepted submissions will be presented orally or in the poster session.
Submission instructions: Abstracts should be sent as a pdf file (maximum size 5 Mb) to icr2016 at post.bgu.ac.il. A template for the abstract can be down loaded from www.icr2016.org.il
Authors submitting to ISRACAS2016 should additionally send electronic copies in Word (preferred) or PDF formats to Prof. Joskowicz at josko at cs.huji.ac.il
