For your information, the United States (U.S.) Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) released the Fiscal Year 2017 Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research under Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) No. DE-FOA-0001515 (attached) on August 10, 2016. In partnership with DOE-NE, DOE Office of Environmental Management (EM) has three U.S. university-led integrated research projects (IRP) that are focused on robotic technologies. They are:

1)      IRP-EM-1 - Wearable Robotic Devices for Workers;

2) IRP-EM-2 - Advanced Robotic Tele-Manipulators for Gloveboxes and Hot Cells; and

3)      IRP-EM-3 - Multi-Use and Multi-User Robots.

A series of informational webinars was held during the week of August 8. These IRPs were presented (attached) on August 9.

This FOA is open to U.S. universities, national laboratories, and industry. Research consortiums may be composed of diverse institutions including academia, national laboratories, non-profit research institutes, industry/utilities, and international partners. DOE-NE strongly encourages diversifying its research portfolio through effective partnerships with industry, underrepresented groups, and minority serving institutions, which may receive funding support from the project. International partners are encouraged to participate; however, no U.S. government funding will be provided to entities incorporated outside of the United States.

Feel free to pass this information to other interested parties.
