  Northeast Robotics Colloquium

  October 29-30, 2016

  Cornell University

The Northeast Robotics Colloquium (NERC) brings together the roboticists
in the northeastern United States and Canada to promote a healthy and
well-connected robotics community.

NERC is simultaneously:

- a research meeting,

- a networking event,

- a job search event,

- a showcase for established and up-and-coming robot companies,

- a time to get away from the lab and have fun with other people who
share the same frustrations of working with robots.

The 2016 edition will be held at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, on
the weekend of October 29-30, noon-noon.

NERC will feature invited research talks by leading local academics,
robotics demos, industry booths, recruitment opportunities, and the
chance to meet and mix with other area roboticists.

The colloquium will feature an extensive poster/demo session intended to
foster discussion on recent developments in robotics from both academia
and industry. <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__northeastrobotics.org_NERC2016.html-23posters&d=DQIDaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=pzfIa1ILSKiKNyejoYZiI4lcOC8lOEulKYpMj5rG4_w&s=cK3iHfRyONvZycOunXEjnSVHq_KCG0vx5B43s41aGMk&e= >

## The "NERC Experience"

If you are based in Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or Albany:
attending NERC will be easy and fun! We are organizing transportation
from those cities, with possible pickups along the way. Join us in
enjoying the full "NERC Experience" --- you will have a great time. Only
$20 per person! See
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__northeastrobotics.org_NERC2016.html-23experiencefor&d=DQIDaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=pzfIa1ILSKiKNyejoYZiI4lcOC8lOEulKYpMj5rG4_w&s=qeqCUAmkG-ftvlf_UFTAOc068ulbC0nxosCWmMDwg-s&e= more details.

## A family-friendly event

Because NERC is held on a weekend, it is specifically designed to make
it easy for families to attend. We're including a low-cost family
registration option---kids under 12 are free. Your family can attend and
share the food at the conference. Your children can have fun looking and
interacting with real robots. Like last year, we will have a kids table
with fun robot-themed activities (“early indoctrination”), including
play-dough, blocks, robot toys, robot coloring books...

## Confirmed Speakers

Kirstin Petersen, Cornell University

Tim Barfoot, University of Toronto

Marjorie McShane, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Adam Rouse, University of Rochester Medical Center
