The successful candidate will work to develop a unified algorithmic
framework that

integrate logic based and probabilistic based techniques to enable normative

Physical Systems to integrate robot task planning and ethical/normative
reasoning for

long-term autonomy. Such systems not only plan and perform domain actions
for tasks

but also are capable of ethical reasoning, i.e., incorporating societal
values into their

decision making, adhering to societal norms and legal rules.

The position is available immediately, and will remain open until filled.
The expected

duration of the position is one year with possibility of renewal upon



- PhD in a field related to AI, normative reasoning, autonomy, planning

- A strong theoretical background in logic-based AI planning and
probabilistic reasoning

- Experiences in the areas of sequential decision-making or ethical

- Programming skills including experiences using C++, Python, and MATLAB

- Ability to present work clearly both written and orally

- Experiences with Amazon MTurk studies will be a plus.
