The Harvard Biodesign Lab at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering and the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Harvard University invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships and a Lab Manager position. We are developing soft wearable robots to augment the ability of healthy individuals and restore the mobility of patients with physical disabilities. Candidates should have an interest in advancing prototypes to the point where they can be tested in the field or in the clinic.
Candidates should have expertise in various aspects of robotic projects with high dynamics, multiple DOF where significant system integration and testing is required: either Electrical Engineering (power electronics, high-frequency digital circuits, high-power motor systems, ARM architecture development, low-level programming, real-time communication, high frequency loop rates, sensor networks, high-quality PCB design, etc.), Mechanical Engineering (mechanics modeling, material science, mechanism design, actuator, etc.), Control Algorithm Development (human/robot walking, dynamics, biomechanics, optimization, estimation, etc.), mechatronics or related field.
Strong organizational skills, creativity, motivation, and communication (oral and written) ability required. More details on the various projects can be found on our lab website (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__biodesign.seas.harvard.edu&d=DwIFAg&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=0qTp7ecw1y4BHUxnNoSy5zOf6e_weBt6j_LKp_4Fh0I&s=CM_5Br4-8CFnMDPBjOcQ_CqDIhIWg8NiK-xy9xBuMzQ&e= ).
Applications, assembled as a single PDF file, should contain a complete resume, cover letter describing research interests and goals, full list of publications, copies of up to three relevant scientific papers, as well as the names and contact information of three references (expected to provide letters of recommendation).
Applications should also be sent to Conor Walsh, walsh at seas.harvard.edu.
