Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on Autonomous Harvesting Robots

Are you excited about applying soft and variable-stiffness robots to real-world problems? Do you have interest/experience with agricultural robotics or machinery? Join us!

This is a fixed-term position within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Plymouth University, integrated in the Centre for Robotics and Neural Systems (CRNS)<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.plymouth.ac.uk_research_robotics-2Dneural-2Dsystems&d=DwIFAg&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=47QFnwa1sy6kwUaFh5gURJnwzGV_zLVSPYVK3fEVMU4&s=KZeqE1QX91HYnjewdRZd3pE5wPrQJY2bBKcdK2YNksk&e= >. The candidate is expected to act as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on the Autonomous Brassica harvesting in Cornwall (ABC) project, funded through the Cornwall Agri-Tech initiative, which is supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The project aims to explore precision harvesting of Brassica crop that is currently hand-picked, through the application of advanced sensing and variable-stiffness robot manipulator technology developed at Plymouth University. The role involves the development/adaptation of the robotics hardware and software, as well as field testing with a local producer. The project is being led by Dr Martin F. Stoelen (PI), with Prof. Mick Fuller as co-I.
