The Advanced Robotics and Controls Lab at UCSD is looking for a
post-doctoral researcher for immediate hire. The scientific work will
involve developing machine learning algorithms for surgical robotics
applications. The researcher will work on planning, decision making, and
control for surgical robot manipulators, and in particular inverse
reinforcement learning. The work will involve interacting with clinicians
from multiple institutions and has applications in civilian and military
The position is open immediately and will be for a 1 year period, with
expectations to renew up to 3 years. The postdoctoral researcher will join

Degrees in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred, and a
proven background in developing machine learning algorithms and controls is
required. Documented proficiency in spoken and written English is required,
and programming skills in C++ must be excellent. Experience with computer
vision and experimental design is useful.
