The PhD project will be connected to our ongoing Research Council of Norway funded projects about Robot Companions for Elderly Care and/or Prediction and Coordination for Robots and Interactive Music. They are both concerned with applying machine learning/artificial intelligence for analyzing multi-sensor systems to train behavior models of both robots and human users for predicting future events and actions. The projects target to develop computational intelligence models being able to represent behaviour and act with timely response through prediction capabilities whether it regards the systems itself or its user. The fellowship will be for a period of 3 years with a potential for a fourth year for duty work (see announcement for details).

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science including robotics and machine learning/artificial intelligence. Thus, applicants should have a strong background in programming and knowledge about biology-inspired techniques and machine learning. Moreover, knowledge in the fields of rapid prototyping, simulation, and reconfigurable logic/electronics would be an advantage. The candidate should have experience with practical work as we expect the project to involve robot prototypes. The applicants would be competing with candidates applying to other announced positions at our department. Thus, having international scientific publications would be a strength.
Pay grade: NOK 432 700 - 489 300 per year, approx.: $50,300 – 56,900 / €47,000 − 53,200 (depending on qualifications and seniority)
