Workshop Motivation:

Joining Efforts - Progressing Faster

Robotic surgery is one of the most appealing fields of modern robotics. With over 3 decades history, more than 3.800 systems installed worldwide and over 600.000 robot-assisted interventions conducted per year, the field of robotic surgery is now considered well established. Despite these impressive figures and increasing popularity in research labs all over the world, the list of technological advances that made it into the operating room (OR) during this last decade is fairly limited. Long expected techniques such as, for instance, 3D reconstruction, motion compensation, virtual guidance, haptic feedback, under study in many labs did not make their appearance into the market yet. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and clinicians involved in computer and/or robot assisted surgery to provide a clear view on the status and recent trends in this field and to propose concrete measures to achieve a critical mass in research and innovation in the world.

Call for Contributions

Prospective authors are invited to submit high quality extended abstracts (2 pages limit) representing original results in all areas of Computer/Robot Assisted Surgery. Best Conference Contributions will be awarded. Deadline instructions for submissions are available hereafter and also on the conference website (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cras-2Deu.org&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=-GzdFohL5KJWRqxkBABIuOuTYHIa2_Dihv34wU75He4&s=sJRzZlCKZbYGnQJBbOWOytgpW7Y5mdQVj7iYoStm9so&e= <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cras-2Deu.org_&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=-GzdFohL5KJWRqxkBABIuOuTYHIa2_Dihv34wU75He4&s=ia-MHyYx0NwmD_a3-aQVAuH6xptHcfgrKDOabWPwOrY&e= >). The accepted extended abstract will be presented in oral and/or poster sessions. The authors of the best extended abstracts will have the opportunity to submit a full journal paper to IJCARS-CRAS special issue.
