Multiple RA/TA positions are available in the Fall of 2018 for
Ph.D. study in Computer Science with the Algorithmic Robotics Group at
Colorado School of Mines.

Algorithmic Robotics Group

The Algorithmic Robotics Group is comprised of four laboratories in
the Department of Computer Science, each investigating different
research areas related to robotics, and each recruiting for multiple
open positions. Mines' Algorithmic Robotics Group combines expertise
in perception, cognition, planning, and networking for robotics, and
students with access to a wide variety of robot platforms (including
the Pepper, Nao, Husky, Jackal, Jaco, and Baxter robots, among
others), a collaborative, interdisciplinary community of researchers,
and access to unique robot application sites, including underground
facilities and the Rocky Mountains.

Dynamic Automata Lab
Director: Prof. Neil T. Dantam (ndantam at mines.edu)
Successful candidates are expected to conduct research in automated
planning, motion control, and robot system software, with potential
applications in robot manipulation, service robotics, and
cyber-physical systems.

Pervasive Computing Systems (PeCS) Research Group

Successful candidates are expected to conduct research in ubiquitous
collaborative robotics, swarm robotic systems, collaborative autonomy taking
into account dynamic or challenging network conditions, with potential
applications in search and rescue, space missions, and environmental

Mines Interactive Robotics Research (MIRROR) Lab

Successful candidates are expected to conduct research in natural
language and gesture based human-robot interaction using techniques
from artificial intelligence and augmented reality, with application
to areas such as assistive robotics and search and rescue.  Candidates
interested in robot ethics are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Human-Centered Robotics Lab

Successful candidates are expected to conduct research in multisensory
perception, robot adaptation, decision making, and augmented reality for
information visualization in long-term autonomy and human-robot
collaboration applications including autonomous driving, search and
rescue, and robot-assisted reconnaissance.
