      Call for Participation

    European Robotics League (ERL)
        Industrial Robots

          Local Tournament:
         20.11 - 25.11.2017
    Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI)
          Milano, Italy

The European Robotics League is an innovative concept for robot
competitions. The ERL is composed of multiple "Local Tournaments",
held in different research labs across Europe, with certified test
beds, and a few competitions as part of "Major Tournaments" such as
RoboCup. Teams participate in a minimum of two tournaments (Local
and/or Major) per year and get scores based on their performances.
Scores of the best two participations in tournaments for each team are
added and teams are ranked based on their cumulative score. Prizes for
the top teams will be awarded during the next year's European Robotics
Forum (ERF). For more information, please visit

We are pleased to announce the second local tournament 2017 on the ERL
Industrial Robots challenge to be held at Politecnico di Milano,
Milan, Italy. The tournament will be hosted in the ERL-IR testbed of
Teams participating in the POLIMI ERL Industry Local Tournament get a
free opportunity to participate in the European Robotics Week. The
teams can prepare a demonstration with their robots which will be
shown to a public audience and the media on the last day of the POLIMI
ERL/ERW event. The demonstration can be any part of the ERL Industry
competition and benchmarks, or be related to/include any other kind of
functionality or capability.

Important dates:

27 Oct 2017 - Deadline for application and request for travel support
       10 Nov 2017 - Qualification announcement
       20 Nov 2017 - Competition begin
       25 Nov 2017 - Competition closing
25 Nov 2017 - Team demos (as part of POLIMI ERW event)

The rules of the competition will be an updated version of the latest
rules of the RoCKIn at Work 2015 competition. For the local ERL-IR
Tournament, only the following task and functionality benchmarks will
be considered:

       - TBM: Fill a box
       - FBM 2: Manipulation
       - FBM 4: Navigation

The ERL-IR rule book can be found here:

the team's approach to the technical challenges
including a brief description of software and hardware
architectures, and the relation with the team research –
including a list of relevant publications
       - Video showing evidence of some performance in the tasks
and/or functionalities of the challenge selected by the team
       - Filled travel support request form requesting and justifying
