Rocha, in the scope of the project “EuroAGE - Innovative Initiatives for the Promotion of Active Aging in the EuroACE Region”, with the ref. POCTEP-0043_EUROAGE_4_E, funded by the Interreg V A Spain - Portugal program (POCTEP 2014-2020).
The EuroAGE project aims at fostering autonomous healthy life, mainly in elderly people but also in people with some degree of dependency, through the promotion of innovative initiatives based on information and communication technologies provided by the patterns participating in the project. The project involves Portugal-Spain cross-border cooperation of partners from EuroACE region, a region that covers Centro and Alentejo regions in Portugal, and Extremadura region in Spain, which is a territory in Iberian Peninsula heavily affected by the aging of the population. The research team from ISR - University of Coimbra that participates in the EuroAGE project will demonstrate and validate with elderly people the use of social robots and smart homes as key technologies to promote active and healthy ageing, through cognitive, socio-emotional stimulation and physical activity promotion, thus contributing to quality of life enhancement and increased healthy life expectancy, mainly in the elderly population.
The candidates must hold a M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or in Computer Science Engineering, and must have high oral and written proficiency in English if her/his mother tongue is not the Portuguese. The ideal candidate would have excellent software development skills in C++ and Linux OS, solid experience in software development for robots using ROS (Robot Operating System), experience in using computer vision libraries, including OpenCV, PCL (Point Cloud Library) and OpenPR, excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and be eager to get involved in the EuroAGE project.

2. ii) Curriculum Vitae (CV), including GPA for academic degrees, curricula of the B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses, and title of the M.Sc. dissertation;
iii) Motivation Letter – the candidate must demonstrate her/his total availability to start working in ISR - University of Coimbra on the 4th December 2017.
The following optional documents can be sent together with the aforementioned documents:
- Certificates of the participation in face-to-face courses, workshops, and summer schools related with ROS, mobile robotics, computer vision, and pattern recognition;
- Reference letters and contact information of current or previous supervisors for candidates having past experience in R&D projects;
- Other relevant documentation, e.g. a digital copy of the M.Sc. dissertation.
