We are looking for Research Assistants (RAs) to work on newly emerging
industrial robots. In particular,
1) Robotic soldering of soft objects in 3C manufacturing
2) Robotic renovation in unknown indoor environment
3) Robotic sanding for wooden and coated boxes
Successful candidates will be working on research and development for novel
mechanical systems, high performance embedded system, system modelling and
control methodologies, computer vision, and machine learning.
Applicants should (i) have a Bachelor's degree or above in a related
engineering discipline; (ii) be self-motivated and able to work
independently; (iii) be willing to explore and learn new things; (iv)
demonstrate an effective communication skill with excellent written and
spoken English. Hands-on experience in mechanical design, circuit design,
prototyping, robot control, programming, equipment testing or other closely
related areas would certainly be an advantage.
Appointee(s) will join and work with the industrial robotics team lead by
Dr. Xiang Li, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, CUHK.
On-site work in CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute (located in Shenzhen,
China) is sometimes necessary. Appointment will be made on contract basis
commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
