The iCORE lab at Louisiana State University is actively seeking up to two Ph.D. students to join the lab with an interest in robotic technologies for medicine and/or the modeling, design, and application of soft-bodied robots. Applicants with the following qualifications are particular encouraged to apply:
- Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering; Physics; Computer Science; other related disciplines)
- Experience with robotic or mechatronic projects is preferred
*About the Positions*
The research project will be in the areas of soft robotics and/or medical robotics. A special emphasis is placed on design, modeling, and control of mechatronic devices designed for challenging environments or for operation near or with humans. Current projects with openings include research on the mechanical stability of soft robotic devices, the design of a wearable devices for treatment of disease, and the design and control of snake-like robots for minimally invasive surgery.
The position will include full tuition and a monthly stipend.
