> The Biorobotics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a post-doc candidate to advance core scientific challenges in biologically-inspired locomotion, including active perception for articulated ground vehicles, whole-body manipulation, and the implementation of contemporary techniques from machine learning on state-of-the-art hardware systems..
> The Biorobotics Lab is a highly-dynamic environment where students, staff and faculty all work together in developing fundamental theoretical advances that are complimented by performing experiments both inside and outside of the lab. We also have many external collaborations with physicists, biologists, medical doctors, and applied mathematicians.
> The ideal candidate should have a deep background in control theory, machine learning, and some form of applied math. Experience in developing systems or hardware components will also be favorably looked upon. Excellent communication skills in English are a must, as the candidate should be prepared to work with graduate and undergraduate students on conference and journal papers, as well as interact with our external collaborators.
> The Directors of the Lab take career development quite seriously and will work with the candidate to advance career goals, whether it be in academia, established industry, non-profits, government labs, or startups. Please email both Matt Travers (mtravers at andrew.cmu.edu) and Howie Choset (choset at cs.cmu.edu) your CV, list of references, and a one page statement describing your interests and how they map onto the interests of the lab.
